  10. Noble "Thin Man" Watts!
I've got a stack of his 45's and a much later bluesy LP, but this LP is a rare prize.
    Thanks, amigo.

  13. I have been following you for years, so glad you are keeping all this alive! Been a real ordeal what with all the old upload sites falling away; many bloggers wouldn't have the dedication you have. I appreciate everything you do.
Although I finally found a version of The Hunt elsewhere, I just tried your LP version (which I would prefer) and I am having a bitch of a time getting this puppy to fully download, not sure why. Everything else you have reposted is humming! Just thought I would put that out there. It could just be my new ISP too
    Best regards,
    Dirk Bill

  14. Hi Dirk

Thanks for the nice comments. I've just tried the download of "The Hunt" and it worked OK for me. It is a bigger than usual file, but not so big as to cause problems I hope. If you don't succeed in downloading please let me know and I'll put up a split version - Disc 1 and Disc 2!

  15. Just checkin' -- do you have any other early Plas Johnson around your pad? Like "Bop Me Daddy" or "Drum Stuff"? I'm really jonesin' for his "Christmas in Hollywood".

  16. Sorry Your Reverence - I did once have "Bop Me Daddy" but never uploaded it. It vanished in the great PC crash of 2012. It was stored on an internal hard drive which burned out. There was some other Plas stuff recorded under the pseudonym Johnny Beecher, but it all went to the great HD in the sky, I'm afraid.

  17. You all have inspired me to look for the Johnny Beecher stuff; most of the blogs I have found have dead links, plus it appears most of this has been reissued, but don't quote me on that. As a sax player myself I learned a long time ago that Plas is Essential. Here's a nice YouTube version for those of us that gotta have it!

  18. Oh, and my ISP was indeed to blame, so I snagged The Hunt finally. Your rip sounds way better than the one I have. Thanks again! Long story short, I have a friend who grew up in that part of L.A., knew Dexter Gordon and about a million other players, and he hasn't heard this in many many years, so I get to lay it on him thanks to you. So there you are, another example of what posting great old music can do!

    Best,

    Dirk
