Found in a Southside (Glasgow) second hand shop a few months ago. Stompin' is probably the best series of obscure R&B comps out there. Especially recommended are the Stompin' CDs of which there were 34 volumes. They had better sound quality than the vinyl issues and brief but informative notes. All 34 volumes were recently uploaded to Twilightzone so if you search around there you may come up trumps.

Thanks for this BW. Seems to me there are some totally different comps using the Stompin' title. I have the complete 34 volume set you mention and Vol 3 has a completely different tracklist to this Vol 3 here.
Cheers Bob. I completed my Stompin' CD set earlier this year after searches around eBay, etc. For years I had been content with the first 26 volumes then I thought , "heck, I gotta get the rest." They were much harder to find than they used to be!

It points out that there was a short 3 CD series which used the Stompin' name and tracks from the Stompin' LPs but it had nothing to do with the issuer of the original LPs. I think the "official" 34 CD series is a "re-imagining" of the LPs with many more additional tracks. Anyway, I like them and enjoy the info in the CD booklets!
I've often wondered about who was behind the "Stompin'" label and series. Whoever it was, they deserve an award.
